Nature of the Activity
WTT organises informal, social group walks. Walks are not medically supervised, are not personal training sessions, and are not a substitute for professional health or medical advice.
Routes may include public roads, pavements, parks, uneven or wet surfaces, road crossings, steps, and areas with traffic or cyclists.
Assumption of Risk
Walking in an urban group setting carries inherent risks, including:
- Slips, trips, and falls on pavements, kerbs, or uneven ground
- Road traffic incidents at crossings and junctions
- Adverse weather — rain, ice, heat, wind, low visibility
- Pre-existing medical conditions aggravated by exertion
- Incidents involving pedestrians or cyclists not affiliated with WTT
- Loss of or damage to personal property
The Participant voluntarily assumes all such risks. Participation is entirely at your own risk.
Health & Fitness
By joining a walk you confirm you consider yourself fit enough for moderate physical exertion. If you have any medical condition or concern, you must:
- Seek advice from a doctor before joining a walk
- Inform the walk leader of any relevant condition where you're comfortable doing so
- Carry any personal medication you may need — inhalers, EpiPens, etc.
WTT walk leaders are not medically trained. You attend based on your own judgement about your health.
Children & Vulnerable Participants
WTT walks are intended for adults. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied at all times by a parent, guardian, or carer who takes full responsibility for their safety. WTT does not provide childcare duty of care.
Personal Belongings
You are responsible for your own belongings — phone, wallet, valuables — at all times. WTT accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal property during a walk or at any meeting point.
Photography & Media
WTT may photograph or film walks for use on its website, social media, and promotional materials. By participating you consent to this. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform a WTT organiser in writing before the walk.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WTT excludes liability for any loss, injury, or damage arising from participation, except where caused by WTT's proven negligence.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales — including the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and Consumer Rights Act 2015. This is a statement of legal position only.
WTT is not liable for the acts of third parties — other pedestrians, road users, or members of the public not under WTT's control.
Walk Leader Authority
Walk leaders may refuse entry to or remove anyone who appears under the influence of alcohol or drugs, behaves unsafely, or fails to follow reasonable instructions.
Weather & Cancellation
WTT may shorten, reroute, postpone, or cancel a walk at short notice due to weather or safety concerns. Participants will be notified where possible via WTT's usual channels.
Insurance
Participants are encouraged to hold their own personal accident insurance. Joining a WTT walk does not provide cover under any WTT insurance policy.
